Disability Income Insurance provides an income when the insured can’t work because of a covered sickness or off-the-job accident.
No one should have to recover from debt while they recover from cancer. With cancer insurance, you can rest easy knowing it will take care of many of the bills and expenses that your primary health insurance doesn’t.
The name says it all. If you’re diagnosed with cancer, your finances can get a much-needed boost on top of the pay-out from your primary health insurance coverage. You can use cancer insurance to help pay for:
- Doctor bills
- Hospital expenses
- Prescription drugs
- Indirect costs, like transportation, child care, and living expenses
You can also add optional intensive care unit (ICU) coverage.
Treating a serious illness like cancer is serious business, and unfortunately, the costs add up faster than you might imagine. Cancer insurance gives you one less thing to worry about.
Cancer insurance offers a number of advantages:
- It’s available for individuals and families.
- You get to choose the level of benefits.
- The first time cancer occurs, you receive a lump-sum payment.
- The benefits cover both in-patient and out-patient expenses.
- The coverage is renewable for life.
- After 25 years with no claims, you could be eligible to have the premium payments refunded to you.
- You can add optional coverage for stays in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you and your family are considering cancer insurance:
- Do you have a family history of cancer?
- Are there other factors that put you at risk?
- What benefits does your primary health insurance offer?
You can't predict an accident, but you can be ready. Accident insurance can help make sure your finances make a speedy recovery.
The word accident is a broad one, and to help you understand the ins and outs of accident insurance, let's narrow it down.
In this case, accident insurance typically covers dislocations, fractures, loss of limbs, death, and disability in other words, an injury. The benefits can be used to help pay for:
- Doctor bills
- Hospital expenses
- Ambulance bills
- Living expenses while you recover
You can also add optional benefits to your policy for disability and hospital confinement.
There are a lot of reasons why accident insurance makes good sense:
- Your policy will cover an unlimited number of accidents.
- You can choose individual coverage or family coverage.
- You can customize your policy with optional benefits for disability and hospital confinement.
- The benefits are paid to you or surviving family members.
- It protects you even if you're injured outside of work.
Accident insurance could be a good idea for you if:
- Your job or other activities put you at risk.
- Your family depends on your income to pay monthly bills.
- Your primary health insurance offers limited benefits.
- You have a limited emergency fund.
You get hurt and can't work. Now what? Are your monthly bills and expenses covered? Disability insurance could be the answer.
Here's how disability insurance works. Simply put, it provides you with up to 60% of your regular income if you can't work because you're ill or injured. You can use that money to pay your bills or hire help to do things that you can't because you're hurt. Things like the yard work or cleaning up around the house.
Missing a couple paychecks can put stress on your budget. Let alone going for months. You can pick policies that cover you for 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months.
It's always best to be prepared, and disability insurance can help in a lot of ways:
- It can supplement your employer's disability insurance.
- You can be sure that illness or injury won't put your family in a financial crisis.
- You can continue coverage even if you change jobs. (The policy isn't tied to your employer.)
- You can choose a monthly benefit amount that matches your family's lifestyle.
Is disability insurance right for you? Ask yourself these questions:
- How much of an emergency fund do you have?
- Does your family depend on your income to cover the monthly bills?
